Rehearsal Diary

Week 1

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: To prepare for today’s lesson I did research at home to try and find good songs that my whole group can perform and also that has all of the instruments that my group is using within it. This will make it easier in the lesson to perform and start to create more opportunities for my group.
What I set out to achieve today: Today I set out to achieve agreeing on a song that we can all play and then decide on what instruments each of us are playing. We also listened and discussed about the songs.
How I was successful today: We all agreed on a song that suits all of us and we can fit into all our instruments. I am going to play the bass, James is going to play the guitar, Owen will be playing the drums and Liam is singing.
Targets for next rehearsal: My target is to start to learn all the songs we have chosen and also to be able to work in a group well and focus very hard. I want my group to get the first part of the song so I am going to try and find the tabs and lyrics so we can all play our parts.

Week 2

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  I prepared for today’s rehearsal by getting all the tabs for my entire group and making sure that they are suited for our abilities. I also practised parts of each song at home on my own bass. Also I have been talking to my group about what we are going to do in the rehearsal.
What I set out to achieve today: Today I wanted to be able to play through the song that we chose last rehearsal and be able to be able to have a piece that we can all play and sounds good. We were able to achieve this and only have to perfect this piece of to make it good enough for performance. Also we were able to determine another song that we thought would be hard but we could play and would sound good with the instruments that we had in our group. This was Wonderwall, we listened to this song through towards the end of our rehearsal and decided that we should learn the parts for that separately as well as our other piece so that we can focus on putting them together in our rehearsals especially because we get 1/2 hours per week which isn’t a lot therefore making our rehearsals more time productive and we would be able to do more rehearsing.
How I was successful today: Today we did what the group set out to achieve and we also got a lot of rehearsing done. We all know what we need to play just we are going to start and try to put it together and time it how the song is meant to be performed.
Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to start putting the pieces that we all play together and polish off the timing of our playing.

Week 3

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  I practiced at home for about ten minutes a day, just going through what my music teacher has told me to play and also I started to learn Wonderwall, it wasn’t too hard. I also have been talking to me group to think of more ideas of songs we can start going.
What I set out to achieve today: I set out to achieve knowing the cords to the whole of Wonderwall and be able to play it without messing up too much but also so I can play for the whole of the song continuously.
How I was successful today: Today we practiced Wonderwall and it's going well. Me and James have put our parts together for Wonderwall and it sounds fabulous. I really practiced Wonderwall because the chords are sounding really messy and need cleaning up and it sounds slightly better now. I'm going to keep practicing to make it perfect!
Targets for next rehearsal: Before next rehearsal I need to learn more of Wonderwall because at the moment it’s not as good as I could be and I just need to really rehearse to clean it up and make it ready for recording next week.

Week 4

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  I practiced at home again but for about 20 minutes a day, just going through what my music teacher is telling me to play and also I started to memorise Wonderwall. I also have been talking to me group to think of more ideas of songs we can start going.
What I set out to achieve today: I set out to achieve being able to play the whole of Wonderwall with my group cleanly and but also so I can play for the whole of the song continuously.
How I was successful today: Today we practiced Wonderwall and it's going well. My whole group have put our parts together for Wonderwall and it sounds fabulous. I tried very hard in the lesson and it paid off as I now can do what I set out to achieve in this lesson.
Targets for next rehearsal: Before next rehearsal I want to know what song we are doing next and also have all of the cords we need to play the song and maybe even know how to play it a bit.

Week 5

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  I practiced at home again but for about 20 minutes a day, just going through what my music teacher is telling me to play and also I started to think of other song that we could start to learn as a group that works with what we all play and all of our abilities. The song i thought of was Love Yourself by Justin Bieber.

What I set out to achieve today: I set out to be able to play the cords for Wonderwall without having to look at my bass as i switch and also I set out to be able to play the start of Love Yourself.

How I was successful today: Today we practiced Wonderwall and I’m getting more and cleaner with the notes I play. We started to learn Love Yourself as we all agreed that it is a good choice in song for our group.

Targets for next rehearsal: Before next rehearsal I want to be able to play the start of Love Yourself by myself and also finish what my music teacher has set me to do.

Week 6

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: I practiced my bass for at least 10 minutes a day this week and I also searched the internet and found the bass tab for Justin Bieber’s song Love Yourself which I had a go at playing and it should not be too hard to learn and play.

 What I set out to achieve today: Today I set out to be able to play the whole of Love Yourself by myself without my group as I find it harder when playing with others in my group.

 How I was successful today: Today throughout the rehearsal I learnt how to play most of Love Yourself except from the last bit where the cords change a lot so I will have to learn that this week.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to play the whole of Love Yourself and maybe even some of it with my group and not just by myself.

Week 7

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: Yet again I practiced what I have already learnt for at least 10 minutes yesterday on my bass which help me a lot as it help me to remember it and not forget it over the night as I have a very bad memory.

 What I set out to achieve today: Today I want to be able to pla y the whole of Love Yourself and maybe even some of it with my group and not just by myself. Also I want to be able to play the start of it with either Owen on the drums or James on the bass.

 How I was successful today: Today I learnt the whole of Love Yourself and I also played the start of it with James at the end of the lesson which sounded good but also there is a lot of room for improvement as I need to work at playing with the whole group as if someone else messes up I rely on them so I mess up too which I need to work on.

Targets for next rehearsal: I want to be able to play the whole of the song Love Yourself through with James but not relying on him as I think that if I start to rely on him I will mess up more due to me not having the confidence to play it by myself. I am trying to work on this though.

Week 8

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: Yet again over the week I practiced for about 10 minutes a day which not only helps me to remember what to play but also helps me become more confident in the way I play.

 What I set out to achieve today:  I want to be able to play the whole of the song Love Yourself through with James but not relying on him as I think that if I start to rely on him I will mess up more due to me not having the confidence to play it by myself. I am trying to work on this though.

 How I was successful today: Today in my eyes was a very successful rehearsal as I was able to play the whole song through with James and also I did not rely on him like I usually do as when he messed up I just carried on playing the cords ad to me it sounded a lot cleaner and in time.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to play the whole song but with Owen as well as James as I think with Owen on the drums it will make the song feel a lot more whole and then later on we can add Liam in who is singing.

Week 9

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: Like I do every week I practiced at home for 10 minutes a day what I did in last rehearsal and also I listened to the song a lot so that I can get the timing of the song right.
What I set out to achieve today: Today I want to be able to play the whole song but with Owen as well as James as I think with Owen on the drums it will make the song feel a lot more whole and then later on we can add Liam in who is singing.
How I was successful today: I think that today was successful as I played the whole song but with Owen as well as James as I think with Owen on the drums it will make the song feel a lot more whole and then later on we added Liam in who sung.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to play the whole song through with my whole group with the right timing and also me not messing up to much as when I try and play faster and in the right timing sometimes I seem to mess up a bit.

Week 10

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: As usual I played my bass for 10 minutes last night to help me with my rehearsal today which it did as it helped me to remember the cords that I have to play within my group.
What I set out to achieve today: Today I want to be able to play the whole song through with my whole group with the right timing and also me not messing up to much as when I try and play faster and in the right timing sometimes I seem to mess up a bit.
How I was successful today: Today was successful as I played the whole song through with my whole group with the right timing and also me not messing up to much as when I try and play faster sometimes I may mess up a bit.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to play both wonderwall and love yourself through in front on my teacher as then she can help us and tell us what we need to improve and pick up on some stuff that we haven’t picked up on ourselves to help us become better as a group.

Week 11

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I practiced really hard at home as I knew that next week we have to perform our two song fully in front of the whole class and they are going to judge us and write feedback.
What I set out to achieve today: Today I want to play both Wonderwall and Love Yourself through in front on my teacher as then she can help us and tell us what we need to improve and pick up on some stuff that we haven’t picked up on ourselves to help us become better as a group.
How I was successful today: Today was very successful as in the lesson we played both Wonderwall and Love Yourself through ready for next week’s performance. Also miss watched so she picked up on some stuff that we need to work on.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal we are performing in front of my class and in front of my teacher.

Week 12

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: Today I went home and thought about what new song my group and I could do. I thought that I see fire by Ed Sheeran would be a good song to do so I had a discussion with my group and we decided it would be good. I also found the tab for it at home ready for the rehearsal.
What I set out to achieve today: Today as a group we wanted to be able to all learn the chords and lyrics that we needed for our new song and do it on our own for a bit.
How I was successful today:  We all sort of did our own stuff this week then at the end discussed how we were going to progress forward as a group with the song I see fire.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to play the basic chords with James on the guitar to make sure me and James are playing the right chords and are in time before we make the others join in.

Week 13

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: As I usually do I practiced my bass for 20 minutes each day just going over the basic chords for I see fire to help me remember them and also play the smoother.
What I set out to achieve today: I want to be able to play the basic chords with James on the guitar to make sure me and James are playing the right chords and are in time before we make the others join in.
How I was successful today:  Today I was able to play the basic chords on my bass with James the whole way through but we were making mistakes so we kept repeating it until it was okay and the we came together as a group and talked about what we should do next.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want to be able to play it the whole way through again with James but without as many mistakes and also maybe at the end of the rehearsal get Liam to sing over it to see how well the guitar chords fit with the piece.

Week 14

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  As usual I practiced my bass for 20 minutes each day just going over the cords for I see fire to help me remember them and also play the smoother.
What I set out to achieve today: I want to be able to play I see fire the whole way through again with James but without as many mistakes and also maybe at the end of the rehearsal get Liam to sing over it to see how well the guitar chords fit with the piece.
How I was successful today:  Today I played through the whole of I see fire with James on the bass which went pretty well, we also made Liam join in at the end who was singing and it all fit together nicely.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to play the whole song together as a group and also talk about what song we are going to do next and choose the song between us.

Week 15

How I prepared for today's rehearsal:  For this rehearsal I went home at practiced for 20 mins every night going through all the songs my group has chosen to do.
What I set out to achieve today:  Today I want for us to play the whole song together as a group and also talk about what song we are going to do next and choose the song between us.
How I was successful today:  Today as a group we went through the whole song which went well with only a few mistakes so we decided not to think about moving on yet and do another week just going through I see fire.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal my group and I are going to keep going through I see fire and also maybe talk about how we are going to start to fit all the songs together that we have learnt to make a proper set.

Week 16

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I did the same as usual an also kept looking up songs that we could do next but I also went back and went over all the other songs we have done for our set.
What I set out to achieve today: My group and I are going to keep going through I see fire and also maybe talk about how we are going to start to fit all the songs together that we have learnt to make a proper set.
How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I did everything we set out to achieve while also going through all the songs that we have done so far and next rehearsal we are going to perform them all to sir to see if there is anything wrong of anything we can improve on.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for my group and me to perform to sir and correct any of the mistakes we may have in our piece but also try and start to fit all the songs together and think about how we are going to perform this.

Week 17

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I sarted to look up and make sure all my cords were correct for the songs that I have already learnt.

What I set out to achieve today: My group and I are going to keep going through our song as they all need a bit of work and I’m also going to also see if both mine and James’ cords match for each song.
How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I started to improve everything Sir told us to do on each song and I found out that on both I see fire and love yourself mine and James’ cords do not match exactly correct although it still sounds correct when played within a group, it would be better if the matched.
Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to do the same as we did today and also I am going to try and work out where me and James are not exactly the same and try to correct it.

Week 18

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I went home and searched up the cords James is playing to see if they are different to mine of if he is playing it wrong or if I am.
What I set out to achieve today: My group and I are going to do the same as we did yesterday and also I am going to try and work out where me and James are not exactly the same and try to correct it.
How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I started to improve and I found out where me and James went wrong and we improved it I am just going to have to remember the new cord and not play the old one.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to do the same again but I am going to work hard at home and lean the new cord and I think I need to learn the cord change better in Wonder wall as that is something I mess up on.

Week 19

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I went home and searched up the cords so in the next lesson I do not mess up.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to do the same as last lesson but I am going to work hard at home and lean the new cord and I think I need to learn the cord change better in Wonder wall as that is something I mess up on.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I went through the wonderwall fully with minimal mess ups from all of us.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to keep going over wonderwall to perfect it and also make sure that we can switch the cords at the right place.

Week 20

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I went home and tried to think of a new song that we could play in our group.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to try and get a new song ready for either next lesson or maybe even start to learn it this week as a group.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I came up with a new song to start performing. We came up with the song I hate you, I love you which is a good song on the piano so I have said for this song I will play the piano.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to go over I hate you I love you more and I need to find and perfect the cords for the song on the piano.

Week 21

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I went home and found the cords to I hate you I love you which I went over loads to try and memorise the cords.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to be able to play I hate you I love you together with Liam singing but it probably won’t happen today with lyrics so I might just go over it with James and Owen.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I performed I hate you I love you but as Liam didn’t know the lyrics yet I just went over it with James and Owen.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to go over I hate you I love you more again but next week perform with Liam singing to make it sound more like an actual performance.

Week 22

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For today’s rehearsal I went home and practiced again the cords to I hate you I love you which I went over loads to try and memorise the cords.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to be able to play I hate you I love you together with Liam as a whole group unlike last week where I only performed with Owen and James.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I performed I hate you I love you with Liam but the only thing I believe we should work on is to make the piece sound a lot cleaner and the same tempo throughout.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to go through our whole set to see if we are really ready for our end of the year performance.

Week 23

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For our rehearsal today I went home and practiced extra hard so I made sure I was ready for the next lesson.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to be able to play I hate you I love you the whole way though and fit it in with our whole set which I want us to play the whole way through.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I performed I hate you I love you the whole way thought and also at the end tried to fit it in with our whole set then play the set through as well as we could. We also identified many weaknesses in our set which we can work on next week.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to work on what was weak this week and also to play the whole set though again while doing this.

Week 24

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For our rehearsal today I went home and worked on the weaknesses I discovered in last week’s rehearsal.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to be able to play our whole set and work on the weaknesses we faced last week and also to practice the set more which I want us to play the whole way through.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I played though our whole set and really tried to work on the bits that were not as strong as others in the set.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I want for us to just keep working how we are and also maybe even to perform in front of our teacher who might be able to give us more advice on what we should do to improve even more for when we finally record.

Week 25

How I prepared for today's rehearsal: For our rehearsal today I went home and played my parts of each song over the actual song to see if I matched.

 What I set out to achieve today: I want for us to just keep working how we are and also maybe even to perform in front of our teacher who might be able to give us more advice on what we should do to improve even more for when we finally record.

How I was successful today:  Today was successful as my group and I played in front of my teacher who could the show us where we could improve which he helped us work on throughout this weeks practice.

Targets for next rehearsal: Next rehearsal I think we should try and go through our set yet again and see how long our set is and make sure when we change between sons w are doing this efficiently and correctly.
